Care of leather and textiles – on use and softness
Leather and textiles are closer to the body than most other materials. They are used, felt, and shaped over time.
And it shows.
I often find that the most beautiful pieces are those that have been allowed to live – not those that have been kept perfect.
A simple approach
Dust and light dirt are best removed regularly. A soft cloth for leather, a light vacuuming for textiles. Not much more.
When leather gets nourishment
Dry leather can look tired, but it often changes quickly with the right care. A little grease or conditioner can give it new life – without changing its appearance.
What we often encounter
Furniture that looks worn out, but in reality just needs gentle care. And that returns to itself with very little effort.
Allowing the material to evolve
Leather and textiles do not get worse with time – they become different. And often better, if you let them.
