Dreamland stems from Giancarlo Colombo's fascination with images filled with figures, situations, and small stories. Even in childhood, he was captivated by artworks where the viewer could let their imagination wander between different scenes and imagine what had happened – and what would happen next.
Colombo's artistic approach is also shaped by more than 20 years of classical art studies and a five-year stay at a monastery in India, where he studied meditation. With series such as Dreamland, he seeks to create visual universes with an almost hypnotic effect that invite contemplation and a mental respite from the pace of everyday life.
