Upsala-Ekeby vase with double handles – Swedish Art Deco ceramics from the 1940s
Beautiful vintage ceramic vase from Upsala-Ekeby, Sweden, made of glazed earthenware with a decorative combination of green and cream-white hues. The vase was produced in the 1940s, around 1945, and is a fine example of Swedish ceramics from the period.
The design features a characteristic Art Deco-inspired shape with a round, slightly segmented body that rises into a narrow neck with a wavy rim. The two elegant green handles give the vase a balanced and almost sculptural expression, while also creating a beautiful contrast to the lighter glaze. The slightly runny glaze from the rim gives the surface depth and a lively appearance.
Upsala-Ekeby was one of Sweden's most significant ceramic producers in the 20th century and is particularly known for its artistic glazes and decorative forms. This vase works beautifully both with flowers or as a decorative design object in itself.
The vase is made of glazed earthenware and originates from Sweden.
On the bottom, a faintly stamped "EKEBY" marking confirms its origin from Upsala-Ekeby.
