Murano glass bowl – Bizantino Tutti-Frutti | Italy | ca. 1960
Beautiful and decorative Murano glass bowl from Italy, made in the characteristic Bizantino Tutti-Frutti style from approx. the 1960s. The bowl is oval in shape and appears as a classic example of Murano glass art from the mid-century period.
Inside, the iconic colorful, twisted glass ribbons (ribbon canes) and zanfirico filigree details create a lively and almost mosaic-like expression. The many colored glass fragments form a complex and dynamic pattern that gives the bowl depth and structure. The colors range from turquoise, blue, and green to pink, yellow, and golden details, encapsulated in glass in classic Murano style.
The bowl is both a decorative art object and functional for use in the home – for example, for jewelry, keys, or small servings. It represents the detailed and artistic glasswork for which Murano workshops are known, including the style developed in connection with the AVEM ateliers in the post-war period.
Inside the bowl, there is a small indentation/area that may resemble a hole or a chip. This is not damage, but part of the glass's original manufacture and occurred during production. The bowl was therefore born with this and not subsequently damaged.
A beautiful and colorful mid-century glass object that can serve as an eye-catcher in the interior.
