Atelier Cinarla Moustiers Hand-Painted Faience Platters – Set of 6 | 1960s Provence
A rare and decorative set of six hand-painted faience dishes from Atelier Cinarla – each with its own colorful botanical motif and a vibrant, artistic character.
The six dishes measure Ø 31.5 cm and are all hand-decorated with various motifs inspired by flowers, fruits, berries, and nature. The color palette ranges from deep blues and dusty rose shades to green, terracotta, and warm yellow tones, and the visible brushstrokes give each dish a personal and lively expression.
The different motifs make the set particularly decorative – both when grouped on a dining table and as individual objects in a curated interior. The hand-painted execution, the small variations in the glaze, and the natural patina are part of the dishes and their charm.
Selected with a focus on craftsmanship, French applied arts, and decorative vintage finds with soul.
History & context — read more ▾
Moustiers-Sainte-Marie in Provence is historically known for its strong faience tradition, which dates back to the 17th century. Over time, French faience from the area has become known for hand-decorated forms, characteristic motifs, and a distinct decorative quality.
This set is signed Cinarla and represents the later, more colorful side of the French faience tradition, where flowers, fruit, and botanical motifs are allowed to take center stage. The six different decorations make the set a cohesive little series, while each dish also functions as an independent decorative object.
