Majolica vintage grape bowl with vine leaves in relief
Beautiful and decorative majolica bowl with a classic motif of grape clusters and vine leaves in relief. The bowl is richly modelled, with leaves, tendrils, and grapes seemingly growing out of the surface, creating a lively and three-dimensional expression.
The characteristic majolica colours in green, blue, and pink hues highlight the details of the leaves and grape clusters, giving the bowl a warm and decorative appearance. The glaze has a beautiful depth and lustre, with light playing beautifully across the many textures in the ceramic.
The bowl is made in classic majolica and features the thick glaze and nature-inspired motifs characteristic of Southern European ceramic tradition. On the underside, there is an embossed mark that appears as “GV”, which is likely a workshop or model stamp. Based on style, glaze, and execution, the bowl is estimated to be Italian majolica from the mid-20th century.
The small drainage holes in the bowl indicate that it was originally made as a fruit or grape bowl, where fruit could be rinsed and served directly in the bowl. Today, it works just as well as a decorative fruit bowl, serving bowl, or as a decorative object on a table or in a display cabinet.
